A book that stipulates over half the jobs in america are bullshit jobs:
- Flunkies: those who make their supervisors feel important (receptionists, administrative assistance, door attendants, store greeters)
- Goons: Those who harm or deceive on behalf of their employers (lobbyists, corporate lawyers, telemarketers, public relations)
- Duct tapers: Those who fix temporary problems that could be fixed permanently (Programmers repairing shoddy code, airline desk staff that calm passengers with lost luggage)
- Box tickers: Create appearance of work when nothing is being done (Survey administrators, journalists, corporate compliance officers, academic admin)
- Taskmasters: Those who create extra work for those who dont need it (Middle management, leadership professionals)
